Francisco Iacobelli

Francisco Iacobelli has been at NEIU for four years. He is also the graduate advisor for the Masters program in Computer Science. He has mentored students in research for two years, actively participating in summer research, interdisciplinary research communities and collaborating with people in the Computer Science department. Dr. Iacobelli’s research explores intelligent and scalable strategies of information retrieval and presentations that result in information that is both distinct and functionally clear to users. Dr. Iacobelli obtained his undergraduate degree at Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago, Chile and a Masters in Computer Science at DePaul University. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science at Northwestern University.

Betina Yanez

Betina Yanez is Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Social Sciences at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. A clinical health psychologist, Betina’s research has focused on understanding the interplay of the psychosocial aspects relevant to cancer control and survivorship and on evaluating patient-centered outcomes in cancer. Her research draws special emphasis on improving the quality of life among underserved and racial/ethnic minority groups diagnosed with cancer. Betina is particularly interested in research that seeks to elucidate factors underlying health disparities in cancer survivorship and developing culturally informed psychosocial interventions for Hispanic breast cancer survivors. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of California Los Angeles.
