Walter Swift

Walter Swift (he/him) is the Outreach Core Manager for UIC division of Chicago CHEC. He is originally from Detroit, Michigan where he received his bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Wayne State University. Walter received his master’s degree in public health from UIC with a concentration in community health sciences. His research has included using improvisational theatre games as an intervention for anxiety and depression, methamphetamine addiction in Chicago’s gay community, and addressing concerns of unhoused transgender youth. He is also a diversity, equity, and inclusion consultant with vast experience facilitating focus groups and conducting organizational needs assessments. Walter hopes to use his experience to draw more attention to the specific needs of the gay and transgender community in cancer research.
