ChicagoCHEC 9th Annual Community Forum Recap!

ChicagoCHEC’s 9th Annual Community Forum, “Nothing About Us Without Us: Community-Driven Cancer Solutions,” took place on November 15th, 2024 at the Arturo Velasquez Institute, bringing together over 100 attendees from Chicago’s diverse communities. The event fostered meaningful connections through a vibrant resource fair featuring 15+ community organizations and engaging sessions led by speakers with expertise and lived experiences in cancer care and prevention.

Key discussions included innovative mind-body approaches to reducing colorectal cancer risk, the impact of COVID-19 on cancer screenings, a powerful panel highlighting the cancer experiences of people living with disabilities, and a collaborative breakout session exploring lifestyle factors in cancer prevention.

This successful event would not have been possible without the invaluable contributions of our speakers, community organizations, and partners who helped bring our vision to life. ChicagoCHEC is deeply grateful to all who participated, and we remain committed to advancing cancer health equity.

ChicagoCHEC is a National Cancer Institute comprehensive cancer partnership led by the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, Northeastern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois Chicago Cancer Center.
